Can We Talk About Walmart!?

I mean really, Walmart is SERIOUSLY upping their game. I have always loved a deal, and honestly try hard not to spend money on clothes…. Which is funny that I’m blogging about fashion. Sorry!

We moved to a tiny town in Iowa and there are two cute boutiques, but otherwise the “big city’ is FAR away. The Walmart closest to us is a 30 minutes drive, so you can bet-your-booty that while I’m shopping for groceries, I sneak to the clothing isle on the reg. It goes on the food budget if its from a grocery store right?

You may be just like me… I had inborn aversions to buying clothes at “the Mart” but the more I took a closer look at their clothes, the more I was truly impressed!

This thermal is one of my all-time favorites! Suggested to me by one of my favorite followers on Instagram I literally went to the store the next day to check them out. I got a “Large” to cover my extra fluffy areas (if you know what I mean).

Here is the gem in black. I could wear this thing anywhere and everywhere! By the way, click on that link and follow me in the “Like to Know It” app! I promise you wont be disappointed!

This duster is one of my favorites. I have about 10 dusters and the two I have from Walmart are my ultimate go-to’s. I have it in two colors and I want it in every color. Do yourself a favor and add this to your wardrobe. It will instantly up your game and most definitely add a pep to your step.

Can you even!? When you click the images above, you will find other favorites of mine I have styled (who am I kidding….) THROWN ON to get ready for my day quickly. As always, I hope you will consider taking a few moments for  yourself in the morning to get dressed, and next time you are in Walmart, check out the cute clothes… you won’t be sorry.

Scroll through the items below and you will find just a few of my most favorite and coveted items from Walmart! The best part is, if you don’t have time to shop, you can always have your goodies shipped to the store at no charge!

Don’t forget to be awesome.

Be the Best (Dressed) Version of Yourself

Be your best (dressed) self. Every day when I wake up, get dressed and do my hair and make up, it’s sort of like a precious gift I get to give myself. For years, I’ve found it really important to set my alarm a tad bit earlier each morning to set apart time for prayer and meditation but now I add a little extra to care for my body.

I really believe that feeling beautiful changes your perspective on the whole day. Your head is held just a little higher, you make time for your friends and relationships and you walk in confidence, knowing you’re ready for just about anything! Honestly, I find myself screening phone calls, canceling lunch plans and staying in my house when I look like a mess. Have you ever noticed this?!

I have had tons of women tell me they are joining me in the quest to be the best version of themselves everyday and that gives me such JOY! I believe fashion isn’t necessarily the newest trends, the coolest shoes or the most expensive bags but rather wearing clothes that fit and make you feel good about yourself. For so long I would neglect myself and my appearance but I have noticed that my best days are those that I throw on some of my favorite go-to basics and jazz it up a little with a cute shoe or earring.

I wouldn’t have thought of this myself but a cute follower on Instagram messaged me and told me how I was encouraging her to go from looking homeless, to looking happy. How cute is that? I have SO been there… Those days where its been XX days since you washed your hair, and you may or may not have worn the same pair of leggings 3 days in a row. Being your best self is a decision you GET to make for yourself each day.

Set apart some time tomorrow morning to get dressed, do it then comment below and let me know how it goes. Better yet, hashtag #getdressedgirl on Instagram so we can all share in the fun! Find out if it eases your AM schedule to prepare for this by choosing an outfit or showering the night before. You are a work in progress and a beautiful one at that!

Date night || Off The Shoulder Problems

Oscar and I try to make date night a priority once a month. We budget a little extra for a babysitter and a fun night doing an activity or going out to dinner!

April is one of those months where we get to go twice! Hello anniversary and birthday month!

Tonight I wanted to look polished but also feel comfortable at the same time. Gingham and buffalo check patterns are incredibly popular right now. Thankfully I’ve always loved this pattern and own a few treasured pieces. I got this one last year from Target and have only worn it one other time. This past year was mostly spent staying in with either chemo nausea, general sickness or low immunity levels. But I’m back in action now!

The off the shoulder trend is one of my favorites but I’ve ALWAYS had trouble keeping this style of shirt OFF MY SHOULDERS. Am I the only person who fights these shirts?!

I learned from my genius MIL about Hat Tape. If you were anything like me you are wondering what I’m talking about. Think double sided tape on steroids that will hold anything where you want, at a fraction of the price of fashion tape! I know right!? Do you see me raising the roof? Ok I’ll stop. For this top I used two on my chest and one on each shoulder! How I never knew about it is befuddling but I’m so happy I do now, and you should be too!

These pants are a staple in my wardrobe along with these beautiful mules that are THE MOST COMFORTABLE shoes ever. Seriously. I’ve talked about how you should sign up for Dillard’s emails HERE. But you really should. I diligently delete an email a day awaiting hat precious sale where I stock up on shoes for the next season. Just do it.

A fun earring is also an essential piece of my basic wardrobe. Mixing it up a bit and taking a little attention away from my post-chemo hair growth. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see plenty about my crazy hair saga on my stories. Target has an incredible partnership with Baublebar where us price conscious gals can get quality on-trend ear candy at affordable prices. Make it a habit to circle around the jewelry section every Target trip, you won’t be sorry.

This basic outfit made me feel comfortable, put together and pretty and I think that’s the most fun part of getting dressed up. What is your favorite go-to date night outfit??

Fashion finds

Most of my favorite shopping comes second hand. I love grabbing a great cup of coffee on a lazy day and hunting through piles of hand-me-downs at thrift stores. I grew up this way. There’s something special about finding a piece of clothing you’ve been looking for or one you never knew you needed for $3.

These jeans are one of those. I found these Vigoss Jeans at a Houston Goodwill that is conveniently located in one of the swankiest locations…. // Pro Tip // I alllllways have better luck in fancier ends of town 😉 You are welcome.

They are probably from the early 2000’s, they’re junior sized and I have no idea why I tried them on. I really really really didn’t think I could pull off jeans with holes. But hey?! Go for it right?!

This sweater is one of my ultimate go-to’s. I found it at my favorite local boutiques and immediately needed two ;). Affordable, super comfortable, and why not tuck it in?! Real mom truth, there is bath water on my right sleeve – ohhh the joys of motherhood. I’m not changing because of bath water (I’m secretly singing “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” by P. Diddy).

The shoes…. oh the shoes. I wait patiently, oh so patiently for the Dillard’s Extra 40% off Clearance Event every year. Maybe it happens a twice a year? I don’t know. Nonetheless it’s always in the back of my mind. I think I got these shoes for $9. I signed up for the emails and diligently delete a daily email patiently awaiting that glorious day. Going early means you can score awesome finds and store them away for next season. Which is where these gorgeous comfy 1. State mules are from. Seriously. Sign up for the emails. It’s sort of like Christmas.

If you’re having trouble pulling together outfits in the morning, stock your closet with a few beloved basics and it’ll be that much easier, thrown together quick outfits can be some of my favorite. Try this: favorite solid top + cute jeans + comfy stylish shoes, and see what you come up with!!
